Cute Monotremes

Monotremes are a group of mammals. Their distincive feature is their mode of reproduction: laying eggs. Other characterisitc anatomical features are the lacking corpus callosum, lacking teeth, their electroception and production of venom. They were first discovered by David Collins during his journey to Australia from 1788-1801, who described them as "an amphibious animal of the mole species". Full report by David Collins from 1802
